I was 8/9 when i first covered my head! My mum had let me wear the scarf to school. It felt just prefect. My classmates were sort of surprised to see me. Growing up I for some odd reason wanted to take it of. I was 15 when i actually fell in love with that cloth covering not just my head but protecting me completely. I changed as a result of my friend and I wish many out there get enlightened by the hijabis around. For me hijab does not mean restriction. It gives me more freedom.. Hijab is not merely the cloth draped around my neck and head. Hijab should first come from deep inside us. Our hearts be hijabified firstly. The Arabic word hijab means curtain or veil. The veil actually protects me from commiting sin or from the evil eyes out there.A pearl protected in its shell is how a woman in hijab is onsidered to be. Allah almighty has made it necessary for the woman in Islam to follow hijab so that one knows how much worth she is considered. We may see people mocking and insulting the cloth or the girl herself. What we need to realize is that how much ever you are being teased or insulted your given double and triple of rewards.
One thing we all assure is that hijab is not merely the cloth. We better be following it in our day to day activities. Modesty be practised in all we do.
Hijab is never a burden. It is nothing forced. It is a choice. I CHOSE to walk around following my hijab. Listening to Allah. I have never been forced to. The media many a times picture hijab as some sort of a "terrorist"!! It is actually funny because those wearing and following hijab have actually found PEACE!!
May Allah almighty open the eyes of those blind!
It February 1, World Hijab Day.
I support all my sisters who have started wearing the hijab.
Prayers and Peace!
